I am running for the Wayzata School Board to lend a fresh perspective and unwavering sense of responsibility to our district’s youth, teachers, taxpayers and community members. As a parent of a dyslexic child, I am passionate about early literacy instruction. But I am more than a one-issue candidate—I care about making our schools better for ALL students. Responsibly.
I support improved reading instruction—literacy is the single most important issue in any school, including Wayzata School District. Reading is the foundation to all other knowledge and we must get this right—for all children.
I support some aspects of the referendum as it is proposed—everyone needs to understand exactly what we will and won't get from the referendum. I am against the high school addition—it’s already mega-sized and there are better alternatives to meet the needs of our growing student population.
Later High School Start Time
I support later start times at the high school—better rested students make more engaged learners. As a parent of a freshman in high school I understand the challenges parents face as they get their children ready for school at 6:30 am.
